Michael Servetus (Spanish: Miguel Serveto Conesa), also known as Miguel Servet, Miguel Serveto alias Revés, or Michel de Villeneuve; (29 September? 1509 or 1511 – 27 October 1553) was a Spanish theologian, physician, cartographer, and Renaissance humanist. He was the first European to correctly describe the function of pulmonary circulation. He was a polymath versed in many sciences: mathematics, astronomy and meteorology, geography, human anatomy, medicine and pharmacology, as well as jurisprudence, translation, poetry and the scholarly study of the Bible in its original languages.

If Hispanics’ relatively low voter participation rates and naturalization rates were to increase to the levels of other groups, the number of votes that Hispanics actually cast in future elections could double within two decades.

17.6 million U. S. Latinos are under the age of 18 and thus too young to vote—for now. That vast majority (93%) of Latino youths are U.S-born citizens and thus will automatically become eligible to vote once they turn 18. Today, some 800,000 Latinos turn 18 each year; by 2030, this number could grow to 1 million per year, adding a potential electorate of more than 16 million new Latino voters to the rolls by 2030.

Thus, generational replacement alone will push the age- and citizen-eligible Latino electorate to about 40 million within two decades. If the turnout rate of this electorate over time converges with that of whites and blacks in recent elections (66% and 65%, respectively, in 2008), that would mean twice as many Latino voters could be casting ballots in 2032 as did in 2012.

This turnout could rise even more if naturalization rates among the 5.4 million adult Hispanic legal permanent residents were to increase over time—and/or if Congress were to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that creates a pathway to citizenship for the more than 7 million unauthorized Hispanic immigrants already living in the U.S.

It is astonishing that Mitt Romney only got 18% of Latinos in Pennsylvania. But George W. Bush only took just 32 percent of the Hispanic vote in Pennsylvania in 2004, despite taking 44 percent nationwide. So Romney needed to perform better than George W. Bush, at least in Pennsylvania.

The wealthy, joined by corporate treasurers and bankers, have tended to pour their money into speculation rather than productive investment. Wall Street has lived in a World of Financial Irresponsibility that created the crisis of 2008 and the big recession than ensued.

"Republican pleas to retain tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations and to eviscerate social programs do suggest a Romneyesque indifference to the 99 percent; they also presume an economy that no longer exists."

“These incentives,” Livingston writes, “are merely invitations to inflate speculative bubbles.” Obama’s concession to arguments about the deficit, which come from Tea Party Republicans and business groups like Fix the Debt,  is understandable, but unfortunate. There will come a time -- when unemployment dips, say, below six percent, and the countries’ businesses are at full capacity – when it will be important to reduce government deficits. And raising marginal taxes on the wealthy will be one way – along with other measures – to bring the deficit down.  

But bringing down the deficit should not be the principal objective right now. What’s important is to continue the recovery from the Great Recession and to take measures to prevent future crises. Supply-siders were right about one thing: the best way to reduce the government deficit is to create economic growth. Obama’s proposal to raise taxes on the wealthy and to transfer those revenues to workers and the unemployed isn’t just the fair thing to do; it is exactly what’s right for the economy.

Fiscal Cliff Hoax and Scam : 80 percent of House Republicans are worried about being primaried if they cave too soon. And very few of them are worried about winning their general elections, so the incentive is to resist to the President. --- Some interesting thoughts that I found in POLITICO.COM

Republicans can’t look like caving preemptively or precipitously, because that would infuriate their base, which is very bigoted, intransigent and fanatic.

House Speaker John Boehner does not seem like the guy that enjoys cracking the whip on his House Republicans. He seems unable to man up and be the boss - the way Pelosi 'manned up' when she ran the place."

Obama is correcting his negotiation mistakes. Boehner should be able to recognize what Obama's learned from him.

Boehner has to get over it. Obama learned from him in year 2011 ....

Republican members are exposed to vicious primary challenges from the Tea Party. But driving the Republicans farther right drives them away from the political center and strengthens the popularity of the Democrats and likelihood that they will score more victories in 2014.

The alternative scenario is to rouse the Tea Party to mount a campaign to preserve the privilege of the 2%. And Democrats would enjoy that. The House Republicans intransigence is the Democratic Party's strength.

Republicans need something to move on rates for the Richest 2%, so they have to say what it is. Obama won’t and shouldn't negotiate with himself like a fool. Rates are going up one way or the other, so Republicans should do this the easy way and get some deal for them even if it is not why they want, and is very far from their impossible and frustrated dreams that they had before the presidential election, dreams that were shattered and destroyed in November 6.

Republicans should not forget that they are the losers of the 2012 democratic electoral contest and that the American People did NOT like or approve their mad economic proposals of Social Darwinism and Plutocracy.
