My own comment :

Modern Genetics shows that the English People have very low percentage of "Anglo-Saxon" Genes from the Germanic Population in the European Continent. Geneticists were astonished to find such low percentages and only in East Anglia.

Genetically, The British Population is almost 6,000 or 8,000 years old and more akin to the Basques of Spain or Ice Age Iberians than to the Germanics.
