Jonathan Chait : "By ignoring the fiscal cliff doomsayers and Grand Bargaineers demanding that he compromise, Obama is doing the one thing that can result in an agreement." - "The key is the expiration of the Bush tax cuts for the rich."

.

"As long as Obama is negotiating for that revenue, a deal is impossible. If he has that revenue in his pocket, a deal becomes very easy."

According to Jonathan Chait in "New York Magazine", the best thing that can happen to America is the expiration of the Bush Tax Cuts. A deal between Republicans and Democrats is only possible after the automatic return of the tax rates to the Clinton Years. And that will happen on January 1st of 2013 without doing anything.

My comment :

I think that Jonathan Chait is right. It is useless to negotiate with such stubborn people that sign pledges to Lobbyists like Norbert Norquist instead of signing a pledge to the common good of America.

On her show tonight, Rachel Maddow checked in on the surprising fallout between former House majority leader Dick Armey and Tea Party group FreedomWorks. Maddow used the friction between the two to highlight how the right appears to be slowly but surely "imploding" in the aftermath of last month's presidential election.

Maddow highlighted that Armey has asked his name and image be taken off any material connected to the organization, and that his agreement to step down from the group included an 8 million dollar severance. Publicly, Maddow pointed out, Armey has called his departure from the group "a matter of principle."

Jonathan Chait on Fiscal Cliff Hoax : Republicans are hoping to use the debt ceiling as a hostage that will give them leverage over Obama in shaping the next deals. But there is a new Tougher Harsher Obama - It’s not 2011 anymore

.
Republicans played dirty tricks on Obama during the "Debt Ceiling Crisis" of 2011. -- This time Republicans are for very painful surprises. Obama does not have reasons to fear the GOP and its arrogance. They were defeated in the November Elections and can not be treated as victors to get the spoils of the battle.

Obama: No More Debt Ceiling Extortion

Some excerpts :

Much as they had expected they could win the tax-cut fight by replaying their 2010 strategy of refusing to extend tax cuts for anybody unless the top rates were included, Republicans have been planning to replay their 2011 strategy of using the debt ceiling as a hostage to extract concessions. It worked in 2011 for various reasons that no longer hold true: Obama’s looming reelection made a threat to market stability especially potent, and Obama genuinely believed House Republicans would compromise with him out of a desire to reduce the long-term deficit.

**************

The unanswered question is how Obama plans to break that habit. One possibility would be to include a reform of the debt ceiling into whatever deal he strikes with Republicans. If no deal is in place by the time the debt ceiling has to rise, probably in February, then Obama will be faced with a choice of exercising a unilateral option to ignore the debt ceiling, either by citing the Fourteenth Amendment or by minting a platinum coin, two options that have relatively strong legal basis. In all likelihood, it won’t come to that, because once January hits, the main impediment to an agreement (the Bush tax cuts for the rich) will be gone, and a deal will be pretty simple to make.

But Republicans are hoping the debt ceiling will give them leverage over Obama in shaping that deal. Obama is suggesting he won’t allow it. I suspect he’s right about that. It’s not 2011 anymore.

The Future of the Internet is the Present of PORN : the relationship between PORN and Politics, Floral Art, Gardening, High Cuisine and Haute Couture - If you want to see what is going to happen look at and watch PORN

.
Several Years ago I read somewhere that PORN is the "advanced activity" in Internet and that many web businesses have to learn from PORN and follow the business models that PORN discovers.

I am surrounded by people that have a love and passion for Floral Art, Gardening, High Cuisine, Haute Couture, Gastronomy, Beauty ( make up, hairstyles ), music and Banquets. I am not talking of rich people, but simple and humble people that work in those fields or are just hobbyists and fans.

I observe how these people learn more and advance more in all those endeavors .... And I see how they look at hundreds of Videos in YouTube.com, and other sites on the web.

But the most amazing thing is what has happened to PORNOGRAPHY ( with capitals ! ) .... Hundreds of Videos can be gotten for free, kostenlos, gratis in the Internet.

There are PORN sites where you can watch VIDEOS of the most beautiful girls or ladies of all sizes, colors, styles and flavors for free, and one of those sites may have hundreds. And a single lady may offer 20 or 30 free videos of big nudity, and 300 like photos without any charge.

Of course, I am not in that business of PORN, and I am not going to give those URLS.

But I see that general newspapers and magazines are economically failing, and some try to charge the user. But the user can get similar information for free in other website or blog.

Some people can't see their favorite TV program or TV anchor at the scheduled time, but they look for the guy or lady for free and without too much ads or despicable commercial propaganda.

This is bad for PLUTOCRATS and Social Darwinists, because they are losing control of Big Channels of Information, as people flee from newspapers and television and become Internet Junkies, where they can choose among many options.

VIDEO Charles Krauthammer : Obama is treating Republicans close to the "Fiscal Cliff" like they being General Robert E. Lee surrendering to General Ulysses S. Grant - Krauthammer always speaks with Great Solemnity and Pomposity and I always laugh at the comedy

.

Appomattox - April 12, 1865 - End of Civil War :

Unfortunately for Republicans President Obama does not drink so much as General Ulysses S. Grant, so Republicans won't be given any "mules and horses" and no food rations like the men of General Robert E. Lee.

General Grant allowed the defeated men to take home their horses and mules to carry out the spring planting and provided Lee with a supply of food rations for his starving army; Lee said it would have a very happy effect among the men and do much toward reconciling the country.

My Comment :

This is very unfortunate because the American Civil War was about Slavery of Blacks and Freedom. And now America has a "Black" President and the Social Darwinism of the GOP is deeply racist and anti-Minorities with its"Romney Hood" ( The Rich stealing from the Poor and Minorities, including African Americans ).

I am amazed at how "pundit" Charles Krauthammer is disconnected from Blacks, Latinos, Asians, other Minorities and the Poor Americans. His Solemnity and Pomposity hides his lack of Empathy and Compassion for other human beings. He does not like "The Other" and "The Otherness". That is why he is given employment at Fox News.

Krauthammer is frustratred, his predictions always fail, he is angry, a sore loser !

Charles Krauthammer Fiscal Cliff Analogy: Obama Offer Worse Than Appomattox

Published on Nov 30, 2012 by ThePrincessHira

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer drew a curious comparison on Fox News Thursday evening between Washington's fiscal cliff standoff and the Civil War.

During a panel appearance on "Special Report" with Bret Baier, Krauthammer compared the White House's opening proposal in the fiscal cliff negotiations to the surrender terms offered General Robert E. Lee at Appomattox Court House to conclude the Civil War.

Said Krauthammer: It's not just a bad deal, this is really an insulting deal... Robert E. Lee was offered easier terms at Appomattox and he lost the Civil War. The Democrats won by 3% of the vote and they did not hold the House. Republicans won the House. So this is not exactly unconditional surrender, but that's what the administration is asking of Republicans. There not only are no cuts in this, there's an increase in new spending with a stimulus - this is almost unheard of. I mean, what do they expect? They obviously expect the Republicans will cave on everything. I think Republican ought to simply walk away.

Next Presidential Elections : Concepts of Mathematics, Probability, Physics and Game Theory in the Swing States and Electoral College, Physical Inertia, Geography of Minorities. Democrats greatly favored for Presidency but not for House or Senate

.
This is Independent of Candidates, because conditions of Geography of Minorities and Swing States, Electoral College Math, and Demography may condemn the Republican Party in Presidentials. Democrats may enjoy a Big Advantage for decades.

Obama enjoyed Mathematical advantages for Electoral College superior to those Democrats that ran for the Presidency before him.

Dominance: The New Democratic Voting Base Is an Electoral Steamroller

Nominate Jeb Bush or Bobby Jindal. It doesn't matter: The Electoral College now favors the Democrats. Have the Democrats opened up a real Electoral College advantage over the Republicans?

By Jonathan Bernstein

Dominance: The New Democratic Voting Base Is an Electoral Steamroller

Some excerpts :

I’m not talking about the illusion of an advantage that comes with winning consecutive elections. That might be the result of a streak in which the party is helped by favorable fundamentals, or it can be, as with Democratic majorities in the New Deal era, simply part of a national advantage. In either case, a party might win the same states every time, but — as Republicans discovered in 1992 — when those favorable conditions end, the apparent electoral “lock” disappears, too.

No, I’m talking about an Electoral College edge above and beyond the national vote. That’s not defined by which states went for which candidate; it’s found by looking at what would have happened in the Electoral College if an election had been tied in the national vote. To calculate it, assume uniform swing – that is, if swing state Ohio moves toward the Democrats, then liberal Vermont and conservative Utah will also move toward the Democrats by the same amount. In reality, the states don’t swing quite that equally, but they’re very close to it.

Usually, Electoral College advantages have been very small, and they flip back and forth between the parties – during the 2000 election, when George W. Bush wound up winning because of a very slim Electoral College advantage, polls throughout most of the contest actually showed a slight Electoral College edge for Al Gore. However, in the last two election cycles, Democrats have suddenly enjoyed a substantial bias in their favor.

Tim Geithner ( Treasury Secretary ) says that there won't be an agreement withour raising taxes for the top 2%

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner appeared on CNN's State of the Union with Candy Crowley on Sunday morning where he explained some of the details of President Barack Obama's opening bid in the negotiations with Congressional Republicans to find a resolution to the upcoming fiscal cliff. Geithner said that the White House would not negotiate on their demand that tax rates on the wealthy go up. He said that, if Republicans refused to back off their insistence that tax rates not be increased, a deal was unlikely and the nation will go over the cliff and all Americans will see their taxes increase in 2013.

HuffPost : Robert Borosage : "On the Fiscal Extortion; Just Say No" : "No deal is a far better alternative than a bad deal -- and the grand bargain now being discussed is a very bad deal." - The Fiscal Cliff is a Republican Hoax and Scam

.
My Comment :

A Grand Bargain Insults Democracy, the People decided against Big Gifts to the Super Rich, given with the sacrifice of the Middle Class and the Poor. Now, the defeated but arrogant Republicans are acting like victors and claiming the spoils of the Electoral Battle to satisfy their brutal masters and puppeteers ( The Corporations that represent the Super Rich ).

On the Fiscal Extortion; Just Say No

November 30, 2012

By Robert Borosage

On the Fiscal Extortion; Just Say No

Some excerpts :

Easily lost in the tumult is simple common sense. No deal is a far better alternative than a bad deal -- and the grand bargain now being discussed is a very bad deal. Here are the reasons citizens should be skeptical about the rush to agree.

1. It's time to call the bluff of the economic extortionists

What we face isn't a fiscal cliff; it's economic extortion. The austerity bomb set to go off in January is simply another round of the economic extortion that Tea Party Republicans first used, with destructive effect, over the debt ceiling negotiations in 2011.

***********************

4. A Grand Bargain Insults Our Democracy

We just had an election in which voters had a clear choice. Mitt Romney ran as the candidate by, for and of the 1 percent. He argued for lowering tax rates, closing loopholes, "reforming" entitlements and trickle down economics. Barack Obama ran against the odds of a lousy economy, calling for raising taxes on the rich to help invest in areas vital to our future.

Now the CEOs behind the "Fix the Debt" coalition are pushing a deal that tracks Romney's position -- including even the outrageous notion of using the fiscal showdown to sneak in a huge new tax loophole -- passing a territorial tax system that would exempt companies from paying U.S. taxes on profits reported abroad, essentially turning the entire world into a potential tax haven. Secure in their lavish pensions, the CEOs are ardently campaigning to curtail the retirement security vital to working Americans. This is, as Paul Krugman notes, simple class warfare from above.

*****************************

Just saying no has one other benefit. Instead of a big deal that is more likely to be harmful to the vulnerable than not, no deal opens the possibility of a new focus on what we need to do to get the this economy on the right track. The president could use his State of the Union to lay out a new foundation for growth that will also get our books in order. No deal might just clear the air for a new debate.

But that will open space for a serious argument about what we need to make this economy work once more. And it will do much less damage than a grand bargain that ignores the reforms we need, propagates the myths we can no longer afford, and adds burdens to the majority of Americans who are already struggling with declining wealth and increasing insecurity.
