The key constituencies to watch for 2012 : Republicans : senior citizens and white working-class voters - Democrats : Young Voters, Minorities, Working Women and Educated Voters in Urban Areas. Psychoanalysis of America.

.

America for Election is Divided according to "Cultural Wars", age is a very important factor in the U.S.. Old age skews people to the Republican Party ( "Give us America back" ), Youngsters are more "Revolutionary", more "Experimental" and vote for the Democratic Party, they want a "New World", a more "Sexy, Hot and Cool World", less ruled by Dogmatic Religion.

Contrary to most countries Women in America vote for the Party that best guarantees their rights : The Democratic Party. This is hard to understand for Foreigners, because in their countries Women are more Ignorant and Reactionary, that is more conservative.

In 2010 the key constituencies of the Republican Party had Great Turnout to give a Big Victory to the Republican Party that grabbed the U. S. House of Representatives.

The Democratic Party failed to fire up its constituencies, they did not show up for voting and Obama and his Party's Candidates lost the midterm election 2010.

The Republican Party is making some grave mistakes : constantly attacking the Middle Class, the Poor ( with Budget Cuts directed against them ), a Big Republican campaign against Latinos using State Laws in some Reactionary, Retrograde and Backward States, and a horrible attack on the Rights of Women, Reproductive Rights like planning birth control and abortion. American Youngsters feel little sympathy for this bigotry against Ethnics and against a Gender.

But will that suffice to push Minorities and Working Women to the Voting Booth ??.

More Demography : besides what we have said, Children, Adolescents and Youth have a higher proportion of Minorities than Old Folks. An enormous difference in color, ethnics and race composition.

On the other hand, the jobless rate is still very high at 9.1 and this phenomenon punishes Youngsters with more strength. This Economic Fatigue plays against Obama and the Democrats and favors the aspirations of Republicans.

Diminish Unemployment to a 7% or lower in November 2012 and Obama is automatically reelected.

Obama is a Great and very Strong Personality and a Very Brave and Resilient Man, he is a superb campaigner, but can Americans forgive a high jobless rate ??

Americans are highly practical and pragmatic, that is the problem. The USA is not Venezuela or Libya, countries where a Great Odd and Whimsical Personality can gather a lot of support from ignorant masses.

And Americans have never been prone to elect the best intellectual among two guys. Great Intellects of the past have been defeated by lesser men in Presidentials.

I say this because Obama is a Great Scholar of Law, and a man that understands very well many nuances of the Foreign Nations. Obama is an Intellectual and Global President.

And Today's Republican Candidates seem like dwarfs before him ( intellectually speaking )

But I am sad to say that Intellectuality and Knowledge of Foreign Matters do not decide American Presidential Elections.

Minnesota is one of the only states in which you can practice mental health without a license, unlicensed Marcus Bachmann, husband of Michele Bachman has a Christian Centric Clinic of Marriage and Family Therapy, and receives hundreds of thousands of dollars of "Entitlements" from Government

.
The Beauty of Hypocrisy :

Michele Bachmann preaches against Medicare, Social Security "Entitlements" and Subsidies, but her husband and family are big recipients of big subsidies from Government and not only for Health Related Things.

Marcus Bachmann, campaign spouse

Some excerpts :

Now the question is how much influence he will have on her presidential prospects. Already, his clinic has come under fire for taking Medicaid payments, but there are more questions surrounding the Christian-centric therapy. Among them are Marcus Bachmann’s credentials: He is not registered with any of the three boards that certify mental health practitioners and professions in the state. The Minnesota Board of Psychology and the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy confirmed to POLITICO that Bachmann is not licensed with them. And a search of the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy license database returns no result.

Trisha Stark, of the Minnesota Psychological Association, said that the title “clinical therapist” is not widely used in professional circles and that Bachmann is able to operate his clinic because of state rules regarding mental health practice.

“Minnesota is one of the only states in which you can practice mental health without a license,” Stark said.

The Bachmann and Associates office declined to comment on his professional credentials, and the campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

The licensing is precisely the kind of issue that could dog the Bachmann campaign as she moves from firebrand, little known congresswoman to scrutinized presidential candidate and Iowa front-runner. He may want to shield his wife, but his negatives provide more doubts to the candidacy of a politician already viewed skeptically by the political establishment.

In this, too, they’ll be on new ground. Unlike Bob Dole or Bill Clinton, Marcus Bachmann enters the presidential race with his wife having never been the subject of much attention or opposition research, and never really attacked himself. As a man, rather than a woman, he’s likely to face a different kind of intensity in the attack — how he and his wife respond to them will almost certainly have an impact on Bachmann’s presidential plans.

HuffPost : Obama can lose Florida in 2012 : FL Dems always fail courting Hispanics - That was the reason why Democrat Candidate Alex Sink failed to be elected as Governor. - Other Dem candidates failed in 2010 and now the Republicans are managing the Redistricting for their advantage

.
Alex Sink lost the Florida Governorship by a few miserable votes, she avoided Latinos like the plague. Like Rich people that avoid the Poor Relatives !

Democratic Party Officials in Florida ignore Latinos. Their operatives do not pay enough attention to Latinos, do not recruit Latino Officials or Candidates, do not fight against Redistricting that dilutes and  kills Latino Influence in Florida, etc ...

Last year, Latina Amy Mercado, a manager for the National Mango Board, ran a $64,000 maiden campaign against the powerful Florida House speaker, a Republican. With less than $2,000 in cash and $5,000 worth of in-kind contributions from the party, she won 40 percent of the vote.

Florida Democrats Struggle To Connect With Latino Voters, Elect Hispanic Leaders

Some excerpts :

Florida Hispanics, like Latinos nationwide, provided overwhelming support in 2008 for Obama thanks to a national get-out-the-vote effort. Since December of that year, 73,000 have registered in the state as Democrats and another 76,000 have registered while declaring no party. There have been 31,000 new Hispanic Republicans.

The growth in Democratic voters has come in part from younger, more progressive Cuban Americans and a wave of Puerto Ricans and other Latinos.

But that didn't help Florida Democrats in last year's election, as turnout of their Hispanic members dropped sharply – even more than among other Democratic voters – according to party leaders. It was one reason why the Democrats lost races for governor and U.S. Senate as well as other statewide contests.

For Democratic Hispanic Caucus leader Jose Fernandez in Orlando, that drop came as no surprise. The Army veteran recalled how Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink bought few Spanish-language ads and toured a local Puerto Rican community center only weeks before the election, when narrowly lost.

"People still thought she was a man with a name like Alex," he said. "We don't work like that. We have to see people, hear them."
................

But Hispanics in Florida are somewhat of an anomaly. Cubans, who make up the majority, are generally allowed to stay in the country as soon as they touch U.S. soil, and Puerto Ricans are already citizens. Among the state's growing South and Central American communities, many have yet to be naturalized.

Patrick Manteiga, publisher of a trilingual Tampa newspaper (Spanish, English and Italian), said the party needs to reach out to new leaders like those at the region's thriving Hispanic churches, many of them evangelical.

"The pastors may be conservative Republicans, but there are many Democrats among their congregants," he said.
.................

"Where we have been failing, is that we have not been attracting the younger voters," said Garcia, a retired fire chief who is being courted to run for Congress against embattled South Florida Republican David Rivera.

Arceneaux blames the lack of elected Hispanic Democrats on districts created a decade ago by the Republican-controlled Legislature following the 2000 Census. But as the state gears up again for redistricting, local Democrats have missed key opportunities.

In Orange County, many Puerto Ricans were angered when officials failed to appoint any to a redistricting committee even though they make up a third of the county. Local Democrats were slow to react to the flap, even though Puerto Ricans tend to support them.

Similarly, in neighboring Hillsborough County, it took a New York-based Latino civil rights group from New York to help propose a county commission redistricting map that accurately reflected Hispanic growth. The mostly Republican commission nixed that map during a recent hearing. Local Democratic leaders were largely absent, attending their monthly meeting.
................

Amy Mercado, chair of the Orange County Democrats, said she wants to see people in office like herself "who may be Hispanic, who are married and have to juggle and still do it all."

But she added: "They're not going to field a candidate just because it has a Hispanic name. I'm a Hispanic, Latina, but I'm a Democratic Latina. I'd rather have someone who's really going to push Democratic ideals than just have someone whose Hispanic or Latina."

She said the party is beginning to recognize people like herself, but that Hispanic Democrats also need to demonstrate they can act independently.

Happy Fourth of July, For Everybody - For All ! - Americans or not ! - Citizens or not ! - A good day for reflection - Think everybody that America can give more good fruits, for the Nation and the World - Think of the Common Good !

.
The USA is a great contribution to the History and Progress of Mankind :

To the development of Law, Government, Democracy, Freedoms, Liberties, Free Speech and Free Press, to Parliamentary or Congress system of Legislation, to Supreme Court, Circuit Courts and the Universal History of the Judiciary.

But it is necessary to integrate American Latinos fully to American Society and in particular those called "Illegal Aliens", sometimes with derision and hatred. And called with more respect or love "Undocumented Immigrants" by many intelligent Anglos that understand that they are all part of America and the American Dream.

This was beautifully and poetically expressed by President Obama in a recent speech in San Antonio, Texas - Nobody could have said it better than this Great Man and Great President.

The Integration of Good Resident Latinos to American Civil Order and Society would be great fuel for the American Economic Machine and Powerhouse.

I do not have the slightest doubt that this Integration by means of "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" or any other name or catch-phrase is good for the American Economy and to overcome any lingering doubts about Jobs, Employment, the Economy, Finance, Wall Street, the Debt, Social Security, Health Overhaul, etc...

I also think that sooner or later all Political Parties in America will understand this Great Truth of Integration and Inclusion, and this will be a new impulse to American Society and American Dreams.

The Nation that does not take advantage of Youth : of Children in Elementary Schools, of Youngsters in High School and College is asking for many troubles in the long term Future.

Leaving Children and Youngsters uneducated is the best help to Crime and Delinquency, to thugs, to a Jail System ( many of those prisons are private ) that is an excellent business for a few, but that condemns millions to be bums for life, being fed, clothed and maintained by Taxpayers.

The U. S. Supreme Court in its 1982 case, Plyler v. Doe reminded us why it's important not to foreclose public education to undocumented students : "Many of the undocumented children disabled by this classification will remain in this country indefinitely, and some will become lawful residents or citizens of the United States"

The U. S. Supreme Court continues :

"It is difficult to understand precisely what the State hopes to achieve by promoting the creation and perpetuation of a subclass of illiterates within our boundaries, surely adding to the problems and costs of unemployment, welfare, and crime. It is thus clear that whatever savings might be achieved by denying these children an education, they are wholly insubstantial in light of the costs involved to these children, the State, and the Nation."

Barack Obama: The Bedrock Confidence of Mr. Inside-Mr. Outside

Some excerpts :

Which brings us to Barack Obama, who (a) was an outsider everywhere he went, (b) integrated himself in a way that reinforced his already seemingly unchallengeable self-esteem.

How did that happen?

We now have a source work for examining this question: Janny Scott's "A Singular Woman: The Untold Story of Barack Obama's Mother," which tells us a great deal about how Obama was raised by his mother, Stanley Anne Dunham.

In brief, Dunham was a young, single mother (she became pregnant with Barack when she was 17) and a wanderer, who took her son as a child to Indonesia to live with her second husband (whom she was to divorce before long), while she was still in her early twenties. In Indonesia, Barack's blackness stood out even more; Indonesians are extremely sensitive about race, and are especially aware of people of African descent.

But people who knew the family were amazed at how openly Obama, still a kid, went out among Indonesians. They found him to be, and Dunham boasted that he was, fearless. He seemed capable of accepting stares, even insults, without withdrawing, and still to reach out and to integrate himself into social groups.

In interviews, Scott attributes Obama's "coolness" as an adult to an Indonesian tradition he learned there of not taking the bait when people insult you, since this kind of jibing goes on all the time and it is considered bad form to overreact to it. Along with this, Scott says, there may be a "constitutional" non-reactivity in Obama's make-up.

Thus, Scott tends to downplay the touchstone of her book: How Obama's mother provided him with a bedrock psychological security at the same time that she presented him with a remarkable series of challenges. From the Times review:

Most striking, though, is how much confidence and faith she had in her son from very early in his life. "She would boast about his brains, his achievements, how brave and bold he was," Ms. Scott reports. More than one friend remembered her saying that she thought he could even be president of the United States.

But, after bringing Obama to Indonesia as a small child, she sent him home at age ten to live with his grandparents without her. Obama nonetheless declares that his mother gave him "a sense of unconditional love that was big enough that, with all the surface disturbances of our lives, it sustained me, entirely."

Dunham succeeded in creating a person with a seemingly unassailable self-image.

P.S. A commenter reminds me of how reminiscent such profiles of politicians can be of psychopaths, which I described here:

It seems that successful people have a strong degree of the sociopathy that lands less talented and well-positioned people in prison. How many male readers - who will never achieve political office or become multimillionaires like Bill Clinton - would accept oral sexual favors from a 21-year-old woman at work? You wouldn't? No wonder your career's stalled!

This is in striking contrast with today’s Republican politics. - The GOP in Congress has completely abandoned the Responsibility of Ronald Reagan of including taxes.

Ghost of Gipper looms over GOP

Some excerpts :

The Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (TEFRA) is the most famous, because of its historic size and timing, a dramatic course correction that quickly followed Reagan’s signature income tax cuts in 1981. But in the six years after were four more deficit-reduction acts, which combined to almost double TEFRA’s revenue impact on an annual basis.

A table in one of Reagan’s final budget submissions spells this out.

For 1991, the document projects $61.6 billion in revenue increases attributed to TEFRA. At the same time, the four other smaller deficit-reduction acts were expected to add a total of $53 billion in revenues on an annual basis.

Translated into current dollars, the total revenue increases for the five bills would then be equal to about $190 billion a year. That’s far in excess of anything that has been proposed by the White House in recent deficit talks led by Vice President Joseph Biden, yet most of these increases were approved when Republicans controlled the Senate in the 1980’s.

You have seen the Republican U. S. House of Representatives trying to limit the Rights of Women : Abortion and the right to Plan Birth Control.

It is necessary to reelect President Obama in 2012 if you want to avoid these aggression against the rights of Women. It is necessary to strengthen the Democratic Party in Congress : Senate and House with Democratic Party Majorities.

Obama wants big 2012 campaign map, GOP wants small

Some excerpts :

Top Democrats say it's unlikely that Obama will lose Pennsylvania, which always draws huge attention but has voted Democratic in the last five presidential elections.

Privately, those close to Obama worry more about Ohio, which has 18 electoral votes. Its unemployment rate, 8.6 percent, is slightly below the national average. But its population growth is almost flat, and it doesn't have the large numbers of unregistered minorities and young adults that the Obama campaign is targeting in other states.

No Republican has been elected president without carrying Ohio.

Of the nine targeted states that Kerry lost, Obama needs to hold only Ohio and one small state — say, Nevada or Iowa — to win re-election, assuming the other states vote the same as in 2008.

Florida, with 29 electoral votes, is even more vital.

If Obama holds no other state but Florida among the top-tier nine, he wins a second term.

Aubrey Jewett, a University of Central Florida political scientist, said the Sunshine State seems destined to play its toss-up role again.

"The economy is still not doing well here," Jewett said, "and Obama is not very popular." But Scott, the new Republican governor, "is extremely unpopular right now," he said, and that could undo the GOP presidential nominee in a razor-thin race.

Finally, several plausible map scenarios would leave the 2012 presidential nominees in a 269-269 electoral tie. That would hand the decision to the U.S. House, where Republicans expect to hold their majority even if they suffer some losses.
.

Obama carried eight industrial states in 2008: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. This is where the election will be decided. Obama should make up with Organized Labor and court White Workers. Win the Industrial Midwest or lose the election.

.
Getting the Latino and Black Vote for Obama is easy, but the President must defend Minorities from ugly Republican Gerrymandering, Obama should defend Latinos in Texas from Redistricting that cancels their influence.

Please Mr Obama defend Blacks in North Carolina from the same ugly Redistricting for Republican Abusive Power. Use the powers and lawyers of the Justice Department.

And do not forget to court the Jewish vote, be prudent on Israel Matters.

How to lose an election

Some excerpts :

Obama could lose the election if he gets blitzed in the industrial Midwest.

Obama carried eight industrial states in 2008: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. He probably can’t win Indiana in 2012 and probably can’t lose his home state of Illinois. The other six are all up for grabs. Republicans did very well in those states in the 2010 elections.

Central to Obama’s success in the industrial heartland in 2008 was the role of organized labor, which has a significant membership in all eight states. Labor has been ambivalent about Obama over the past two years because of his failure to push its No.1 legislative priority: card check. It is also disheartened by his recent embrace of free-trade agreements.

Obama must kiss and make up with labor between now and November 2012. Republican governors in these heartland states have helped him by going on an anti-labor tear since their elections.
................

Obama could also lose important minority support if his Justice Department takes a pass on aggressive congressional redistricting plans that discriminate against minority voters in states like Texas and North Carolina.

The Texas plan penalizes the state’s growing Latino community, and North Carolina Republicans are seeking to minimize African-American influence. The implications of these plans extend far beyond the boundaries of the two states involved.
.
