Rick Perry may as well be injecting Texans with Ebola virus to kill them. - Perry will have blood on his hands, if he persists denying health care of Medicaid Expansion to two million uninsured Texans. People will end up in situations that could have been avoided if Perry had said yes, and they will die

How many Texans will Governor Rick Perry kill ??

James Moore, Director of Progress Texas PAC, says in HuffPost that Governor Rick Perry does not view the working poor as his constituents. Only his rich business donors deserve his attention and favor.

According to several reports, the quality and availability of health care in Texas rates as the worst among the developed countries in the western world. - But according to Rick Perry it's wrong to accept health care from the federal government that would provide coverage for up to two million uninsured people. He only works for his rich business donors.

Venezuelan Vultures : according to TV humorist and satirist Jaime Bayly in Miami ( the Bill Maher of Latin America - Spanish Language ) two vultures are eating the rotting corpse of "Presidente Comandante" Hugo Chavez and ruling in his name

.
Jaime Bayly and his friend Doctor Jose Rafael Marquina of Naples Florida consider Mr Chavez as a half dead man. Doctor Marquina, Oncologist, that is Cancer Specialist that knows very well the extremely rare cancer of Chavez, the "Comandante Presidente" can not speak and is paralyzed in legs, feet, arms, hands, that is a quadriplegic, tetraplegic or paraplegic.

But Maduro the vice president is the ventriloquist that speaks for the Mummy or the Corpse inside his coffin.

This is like when Generalisimo Francisco Franco, Caudillo de España por la Gracia de Dios ( Fuehrer of Spain by the Grace of God ) was also a virtual corpse and he gave laws, decrees, and proclamations every day by the dozens while dying for many months. Franco died in November 1975.

The Wits in Spain used to say : "Comuniqué : Generalisimo Franco is dead - signed Generalisimo Francico Franco."

I think that Hugo Chavez is also going to sign his death certificate.

You can look for "Jaime Bayly" or Doctor "Juan Rafael Marquina" in YouTube or Google and see many scientific explanations about this rare cancer that afflicts Chavez and many funny satirical comical programs of Bayly including video clips of several humorists. All Latin America is laughing at the farce and circus of clowns in the Venezuelan Government.

If I were Chavez I would prefer Euthanasia for myself because according to Doctor Marquina Chavez is in excruciating pain and should be receiving many injections of morphine.

The two vultures that are ruling Venezuela in the name of the Dead Men with many false conversations with the mummy, and laws, decrees, ukazes, declarations and "pronunciamientos" of the Venezuelan Half Dead :

Nicolás Maduro (born 1962) is the Venezuelan Vice President since October 2012, serving under "Presidente Comandate" Hugo Chávez.

Military guy Diosdado Cabello (born 1963) is President of the National Assembly of Venezuela, the country's parliament.

However, writing from the 'left of center' should not be confused with writing for the left as I often annoy progressives just as much as I upset conservative thinkers. Rick Perry To 6.5 Million Texans With No Healthcare-You're On Your Own

Some excerpts :

The missive comes as 6.2 million Texans—one quarter of the entire population of the state—continue to live without any healthcare coverage whatsoever.

This from Perry’s letter to Sebelius—

If anyone was in doubt, we in Texas have no intention to implement so-called state exchanges or to expand Medicaid under Obamacare. I will not be party to socializing health care and bankrupting my state in direct contradiction to our Constitution and our founding principles of limited government.

I stand proudly with the growing chorus of governors who reject the Obamacare power grab. Neither a ‘state’ exchange nor the expansion of Medicaid under this program would result in better ‘patient protection’ or in more ‘affordable care.’ They would only make Texas a mere appendage of the federal government when it comes to health care.

***********************

Once the citizens of these states get wise to how a Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal are allowing all that federal money (including the federal tax dollars paid by Texans and Louisianans) to go to neighboring states while they get nothing, I think these governors are going to get a little lesson in how politics really work.

And that will be a fun day.

Chris Christie : "It’s simple. We are putting people first,” Christie said in a speech before the legislature unveiling his budget. “Which is why, after considerable discussion and research, I have decided to participate in the Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act."

Excerpts :

“Let me be clear, refusing these federal dollars does not mean that they won’t be spent,” he said. “It just means that they will be used to expand health care access in New York, Connecticut, Ohio or somewhere else. … In fact, [New Jersey] taxpayers will save approximately $227 million in fiscal year 2014 alone.”

*****************

The expansion is projected to add 300,000 New Jerseyans to the Medicaid rolls, according to the New Jersey Policy Perspective, a liberal-leaning think tank, and bring in $1.7 billion to the state’s economy. Medicaid currently covers 1 million residents in the state.

HuffPost's Howard Fineman : "Obama will be tested this spring and summer in a series of budget crises that amount to a reality show drama about leadership -- with real-world consequences for all Americans" - Why Obama will prevail !

.
Howard Fineman is right : President Obama has to build Popular Pressure against a recalcitrant Congress, specially a U. S. House populated by Dogmatic Dogmatists, that is ideologues of the Republican Party, filled with Intransigence, Stubbornness, Obstinacy, Zealotry, Doctrinalism, Fanaticism, Prejudice and even Racism and Hatred.

Obama has to use the "Bully Pulpit" as president Theodore Roosevelt used to say, more than one hundred years ago. He has to inform, illustrate, and teach to the American People.

But relax, I am sure that Obama is a Great Man and a Great President. His power as a great Leader and Statesman ( with capitals ) will grow in year 2013.

Huffington Post
Obama, Our Celebrity President, Faces Real World Test
February 25, 2013

Some excerpts :

President Barack Obama is facing a Washington version of Wall Street's "triple-witching hour," a pileup of fateful deadlines in tight sequence. He'll be hit with the $85 billion sequester cuts likely to begin Friday, a possible government-wide shutdown if no deal is reached on the overall budget by March 27 and yet another collision over the debt ceiling this summer.

So the show's plot is simple: Can a popular president, recently reelected and reigning supreme culturally and socially, master -- for the sake of prosperity and his vision of a just society -- the sclerotic tribal dynamics of Washington?

In his first term, Obama largely turned over the task of passing his signature health care reform to his Democratic allies on the Hill. This challenge now is more systemic, and Congress is more the problem than the solution.

Which means the president is going to have to handle this one personally. Building popular pressure can help. Indeed, it is indispensable. But restructuring the budget, the core challenge, is going to demand eons of time in private with people he doesn't like or trust.

The president doesn't hide his disdain for Congress, for the folkways of traditional Washington, for the petty egos in Congress and the media. He has unified the Democrats under his banner, but he doesn't think they need to be tended to personally.

As for the GOP, this isn't a level playing field; it's hardly a playing field at all. The Obamas are cool, appealing, connected (literally) and, as such, liked and trusted by most Americans. The GOP is none of those things, at least to most Americans, only 22 percent of whom identify themselves as Republicans today.

More important, Obama's policies are generally liked by the public as a whole. Voters claim to distrust government and surely dislike Washington, but they also agree with the president's we're-all-in-this-together domestic policies, his nonjudgmental social views and his natural (and seemingly growing) distrust of heavy military commitments abroad.

Doug wants Medicaid for 500,000 poor people in NC, most of them work for Minimum Wage, and 100,000 lost their job and are over 50 years old. Medicaid Expansion would create 23,000 jobs in North Carolina.

Very short sighted decision in North Carolina : People will have to pay higher insurance premiums because of the wrong decision of Governor and General Assembly. Crowded Emergency Rooms and Hospitals in strait financial conditions because having to cover uninsured people in grave conditions.

VIDEO, "Florida Governor Rick Scott now Loves Obamacare, In Time for Next Election" : Chris Matthews, Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Jonathan Alter from Bloomberg. - Flipper vs Flopper in Florida! Crist, Scott, Obamacare and the next election. Takes one to know one?

.

Charlie Crist--the former governor of Florida who left the Republican party and joined the Democrats --called current Sunshine State Gov. Rick Scott's reversal on Medicaid "just stunning."

Published on Feb 22, 2013

"The only rationale I can apply to it is that it's a re-election [issue] and [the switch] will benefit a million Floridians...It's just a stunning reversal, which is pretty amazing to watch and witness" he said on Friday's Hardball. Scott has had "this dramatic change of heart that is a metamorphosis the likes of which is hard to compare," Crist said.

Scott's approval ratings are indeed dismal, and he's up for re-election in 2014. According to a recent PPP poll, just 33% of Florida voters said they approved of him, compared to 57% that disapproved.

Crist, who's frequently mentioned as a candidate for Florida governor again, would fare quite well if he decides to run—at least if the race were held today. According to PPP, Crist would beat Scott 53% to 39% in a head-to-head matchup.

The former governor told host Chris Matthews that favorable poll results are "nice to see but... it's awfully early for something like that."

Scott created waves this week after he agreed to accept federal funds to expand Medicaid for three years. Less than a year ago, following the Supreme Court decision that the Affordable Healthcare Act is constitutional, Scott declared it would be "devastating for patients, devastating for tax payers, it's going to be the biggest job-killer ever. We're not going to implement Obamacare in Florida."

GOP means Stubbornness, Obstinacy and Intransigence : Medicaid was created by U. S. Congress and Lyndon Johnson in 1965. Many states resisted joining Medicaid. Arizona wouldn’t sign up until 1982. - Arizona was also the last state to join the interstate highway system

.
David Firestone in the New York Times tells us that the GOP denying reality is nothing new. Florida Governor Rick Scott is regarded as a traitor by the Republican Fanatics but in fact, he simply accepted reality before other Governors and the Party Fools .... "Eventually, all the holdout states will knuckle under and do exactly the same thing." says Firestone.

Fanaticism, Zealotry, Bigotry, Prejudice, Fossilization, Mummification, Dessication, Intolerance,  unwillingness to recognize and respect differences in opinions or beliefs. That is the cancer that eats and corrodes the Republican Party.

Intolerance for "The Other" and "The Otherness", this attitudes of the GOP have a lot to do with Racism and Hatred, since a good part of the beneficiaries of Medicaid are Minorities and the Poor ( including millions of Whites ) !

If the GOP does not correct this Willfulness, Intractability, Contrariness and Headstrongness then it is marching towards the sunset : the disappearing Party of NO ! ( because of being refractory and resistant to intelligence ! )

Florida hospitals push for Medicaid expansion

Some excerpts :

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Florida hospital executives warned they will be hit hard if the state does not expand Medicaid coverage under the federal health overhaul because hospitals will lose federal funding they've been relying on to care for uninsured patients. Florida hospitals spent more than $2.8 billion caring for uninsured patients in 2011, hospital officials said Monday.

The Affordable Care Act will end some major federal funding streams to hospitals that cover large numbers of uninsured patients because the law assumes those patients will have insurance through Medicaid expansion or through state online health exchanges. But the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Medicaid expansion is optional for states, leaving Florida hospitals concerned they will be on the hook for huge bills with less money to pay for them than in the past.

"If Florida doesn't expand Medicaid, we're going to have the money taken out of one pocket, we just won't get it put back in the other," Tommy Inzina, chief administrative officer at BayCare Health System, said at a House meeting in Tallahassee on Monday.

Chavez has encouraged invasions of farms, ranchs, haciendas, etc  .... NO respect for private property.

No wonder that Scarcity reigns in Venezuela and you don't get milk, cheese, eggs, beef, chicken, rice, maize, etc ....

No wonder that the corrupt Venezuelans ( La Guardia Nacional ) sends scarce Venezuelan Products to Colombia where they get better prices.

No wonder that Venezuela lives in constant devaluations. Colombia was the poor country and Venezuela was looked up. Now Venezuela has to look up to its neighbor as a much more advanced nation. The "sister" nation has almost no oil but works very hard and exports lots of diversified products with a capitalist economy.

The entrepreneurs and intelligentsia of Venezuela emigrate to greener pastures in many other countries, including the "sister" nation. Many businesses have been started in Colombia by Venezuelan Entrepreneurs and Engineers that could not prosper in their home country.

Venezuela only exports oil. And is ruled by gangsters, thugs, streets bullies, delinquents and criminals. There are many buildings at the center of Venezuelan cities occupied by these "malandros" or bad guys. No wonder that delinquency and crime are rampant and are the worst in Latin America.

Elections 2014 : Democrats can apply the sophisticated targeting and mobilizing techniques the Obama re-election campaign honed. It's actually possible now to change the composition of the electorate. Once these modern targeting techniques sweep into House politics Republicans are in real trouble

.
From U. S. News and World Report by Robert Schlesinger :

Mitch McConnell furious with Obama's Minimum Wage Proposal. But corporate profits, productivity and per capita income have grown immensely for decades and wages are stagnant and even decrease. So maxioazing the potential of the worker does not help him.

Some excerpts :

The two [ Obama's ] speeches [ Inauguration and State of the Union ] are the hallmarks of an emboldened Obama. Democratic strategist Tad Devine recalls seeing the president in a White House meeting four years ago and again in the lead-up to the State of the Union this year. The new Obama, Devine says, is "so much stronger, so resolved, so aware that the other side is engaged in full time obstruction and determined to plow right through 'em." Democratic media man Peter Fenn (who blogs for U.S. News) agrees, adding in "the time I've spent with [Obama] after the election, this guy's not fooling."

*****************

So, for example, Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky complained in a floor speech that Obama "spoke of workers' minimum wages, instead of their maximum potential." What Obama understands and McConnell misses is that since the turn of the century, U.S. wages have become decoupled from productivity and per capita GDP. Workers are maximizing their potential with little to show for it.

Bill Maher tonight looked at the recent attempts to moderate the GOP and draw the party away from strongly conservative candidates like Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock. However, Maher couldn't help but point out that in spite of conventional wisdom, that the Republican party only just recently went "off the rails," he said the party has always been an "uneasy marriage" between "Jesus freaks" and "plutocrats."

Maher highlighted a new group set up by Karl Rove trying to help conservatives who can actually win elections and keeping some of the more wild "batshit" out of general elections. Jon Meacham noted it as a stunning moment that "Karl Rove has become the moderate establishment."

Donna Brazile said that there are still Republicans talking in such outlandish terms about social issues, pointing out that on the day of his State of the Union response, Marco Rubio voted against the Violence Against Women Act. Maher disputed the idea that the Republican party only recently went "off the rails" because of social issues, but for decades the party has been an "uneasy marriage" between "Jesus freaks' and "plutocrats."

The Daily Caller's Jamie Weinstein argued that Obama has been consistently demonizing millionaires and billionaires, to which Meacham challenged his assertion. Bill Maher brought up Obama coming out for a higher minimum wage, saying that corporations should stop complaining about having to raise prices and just do it, because no one's going to care if their arugula salad is a dollar or two more expensive.

Meacham went back to Weinstein's point and told him that it is "ahistorical and irrational" to think that Obama is a socialist or trying to demonize big business.

Texas has the largest uninsured population in USA - Impending : County Commissioners of Dallas and El Paso to adopt resolutions urging state legislators to accept the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion and $100 billion in federal dollars over 10 years

.

Officials in Bexar, Harris and Hidalgo counties ( in Texas ) are considering similar resolutions this week.

The Dallas Area interfaith coalition that includes the Texas Catholic Conference , the Texas Hospital Association and the Texas Medical Association are pushing for Medicaid Expansion in Texas,

Excerpts :

If Texas expanded Medicaid coverage to impoverished adults in 2014 under the Affordable Care Act, the state could receive an additional $100 billion in federal dollars over 10 years, helping to offset that spending by local governments. The state would pay $15 billion during that time, which opponents of the expansion, including state Republican leaders, argue is too much.

Philadelphia Inquirer : Pennsylvania Governor "is Brutally Wrong to reject the coverage" of Medicaid Expansion - "One in six Pennsylvanians lacks health insurance" - "The Expansion would make 631,000 more Pennsylvanians eligible for Medicaid coverage next year, many of them making $10 an hour and just getting by"

.

Excerpts :

These people are your neighbors and relatives. They serve food and sell clothing. They work in malls and casinos. They provide care for the young and elderly.

*******************

People without health insurance routinely delay treatment. They get sicker, work less, suffer more, and die sooner. Their ranks doubled in this region in the last dozen years.

*****************

Pennsylvania will lose $17 billion in federal aid during the first six years while almost three-quarters of a million residents are denied coverage.

North Carolina : Charlotte Observer Newspaper, Editorial Board scolds the Governor and Legislature for not showing leadership in supporting Medicaid Expansion - Republicans voted against letting the Federal Government buy health coverage for a half-million North Carolinians

.

What the Federal Government would pay ( $2 billion a year for N. C. ) is much less than the cost for North Carolina if the Medicaid Expansion is rejected. And not counting the loss of Business, Business Competitiveness and prestige for the State.

Excerpts :

The Expansion would be a boon for business. The nonprofit N.C. Institute of Medicine estimates the Medicaid expansion would create 25,000 jobs. It would be especially important for rural hospitals, who struggle to make money while providing free indigent care.

Beyond the dollars and cents, it produces better health outcomes for the 500,000 low-income North Carolinians who would be newly eligible. Those people will be better suited to join or stay in the workforce.

I weep for the tragedy of Venezuela, where great resources are continually squandered in demagoguery, populism, clientelism, personalism, .....

Medicaid Expansion : Texas’ two largest health care trade associations, the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Hospital Association, have announced support for extending Medicaid coverage to low-income adults

.

The Texas Tribune informs that despite the resistance of Gov. Rick Perry and many other Republicans to expanding Medicaid in Texas under the Affordable Care Act, the Business and Health Care Community are pushing for it.

Some Extracts :

For an additional investment of $15 billion over 10 years, Texas could draw down $100 billion in federal funding to insure two million more Texans through the state’s Medicaid program, according to a report by Billy Hamilton, a nonpartisan consultant who was previously the state’s chief revenue estimator.

**************

To work around Perry’s veto power, state Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, has proposed a constitutional amendment that would allow Texas voters to decide whether to expand Medicaid.

“There is a lot of political posturing going on, but the bottom line is that it makes no sense to reject additional federal health aid,” Ellis said in an email. “I believe we do millions of Texans a disservice — at a real financial and human cost — if we dither and delay implementing this common sense reform.”

VIDEO, Iowa Hospitals : The Business Case for Medicaid Expansion - Medicaid Expansion would improve Iowa's Health, the workforce would be more productive. - If Iowa does not use the Medicaid Expansion other States would have a competitive business advantage

.
150,000 uninsured Iowans will enter the Health Care System as properly insured and receiving excellent attention if the Medicaid Expansion takes place.

The Business Climate would be stronger in Iowa with the Medicaid Expansion, and the population would be healthier. The uninsured very often end in Emergency Rooms because they have no preventive attention.

The Emergency Room is the most expensive place to receive Health Care and the people that are insured have been paying higher premiums because others have no insurance.

New Businesses will relocate in Iowa if there is Medicaid Expansion.

After Ohio and Michigan accepted Medicaid Expansion, the lamelight is on Governor Rick Scott of Florida who faces a tough 2014 reelection battle in a state that voted twice for Obama. The only governor up for reelection this year, Chris Christie of New Jersey, will also be closely watched in a state that Obama carried

.

Los Angeles Times believes that most Governors will accept the Medicaid Expansion. The federal money is a powerful magnet for Republican Governors.

"It's certainly not going to be all the states in year one. But it's going to be most of them."

"Hundreds of billions of dollars in federal payments to the states for expansion will overcome ideological resistance."

Foes of President Obama's healthcare law have tried to unite Republican governors against its Medicaid expansion — but now some are welcoming the change and the federal money it offers.

Medicaid expansion divides GOP governors

Some excerpts :

In many states, the hospital lobby has aggressively pushed governors to accept the expansion. By covering millions of people who currently lack insurance, expanding Medicaid is expected to save hospitals billions of dollars in uncompensated care.

Fifteen Democratic governors, including Jerry Brown of California, Pat Quinn of Illinois and Martin O'Malley of Maryland, favor the expansion. Most or all of the remaining Democratic governors are likely to agree — though expansion is contingent on approval by state legislatures.

The decisions this week by Kasich and Snyder have focused attention on a couple of governors who remain undecided, particularly Florida's Rick Scott, who faces a tough 2014 reelection battle in a state that voted twice for Obama. A former healthcare magnate, Scott has already moved toward the political center on issues including education spending and expanded voting hours. More than 1.2 million people in Florida would gain health insurance if the state expanded its Medicaid program, according to an Urban Institute study last fall for the nonpartisan Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured.

The only governor up for reelection this year, Chris Christie of New Jersey, will also be closely watched in a state that Obama carried. Republican strategists expect that most presidential contenders, a group that could include Christie and Govs. Scott Walker of Wisconsin and Mike Pence of Indiana, will decide to reject the expansion.

VIDEO ObamaCare : Support Medicaid Expansion in Michigan : If Michigan chooses to participate, it is estimated that 450,000 uninsured Michigan adults will get health insurance and "newly enroll" in Medicaid - Save Lives, Save Money! Expand Medicaid!

.
Michigan will receive about $2 billion a year from the federal government to pay for the expansion.:

 Published on Feb 4, 2013

Under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) states can choose to voluntarily expand Medicaid health insurance to millions of adults who are uninsured today. Under the ACA's provision, the federal government will pay 100 percent of the cost of the expansion for states that choose to participate for the first three years (2014, 2015 and 2016).

If Michigan chooses to participate, it is estimated:
-that 450,000 uninsured Michigan adults will get health insurance and "newly enroll" in Medicaid
-Michigan will receive about $2 billion a year from the federal government to pay for the expansion, and
-the state will save about $1 billion over a decade as the federal government's appropriations cover Medicaid services that currently must be funded by state tax payers.

.

The Baby Crunch or Baby Drought  has consequences in the analysis of Immigration and "Illegal Aliens", it would be economically harmful for the U. S. Future to kick "Illegal" youngsters out of the USA, unless they are convicted criminals.

The Economic Future and Growth of a Nation has to do with replacing the aging population with a new cohort of youngsters that start to work. If that younger cohort is too small the consequences are bad for Economic Growth, Creativity, Invention, Competition, National Dynamism, etc ...

Certain American States like California are already being strongly depopulated, because many citizens emigrate to Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and specially other Southern Places. Kicking out honest and decent youngsters because of ethnic or racial prejudice would be fatal for California's Economy. What you have to do is to educate them to be engineers, scientists, managers, entrepreneurs, etc ..... and of course : give them a path to citizenship.

If the economy was so bad, if the job market was so poor.. - How come President Obama was so strongly reelected ? - Hint : The Job Market was much better than previously reported in Labor Statistics. - Corrections show that 600,000 more people got jobs

Behind January Unemployment Data, a Hidden Boom for 2012

Some excerpts :

But the higher jobs figures help explain a lot. They help explain why consumer spending and retail sales held up quite well during 2012, in spite of the seemingly weak jobs numbers. They help explain why consumers on the whole did a far better job keeping up with financial obligations—from mortgages to credit cards. They help explain why more people were willing to take a plunge on purchasing home or buying a new car.

*******************

But when the underlying economy is performing well, and trends are going in the right direction, incumbents tend to win.

I believed from the outset that President Obama would win reelection because of the economy, not in spite of it—that America’s recovery and reinvention, while far from satisfying, was sufficiently advanced and meaningful to help the president. Some of that argument was based on a hunch, and on the fact that I had just written a book making precisely that case.  But it turns out the data is supportive of this case.

According to BLS, the economy created 2.2 million jobs in 2012, which is pretty good. Employment is generally the most significant economic indicator for politicians. And it turns out the more we learn about the labor market in 2012, the better it gets.

Jonathan Chait on Migra : Republican elites want to wrest control of their party back from the activist base. They want to dispose of something their voters care about a lot : Migra Reform makes lots of sense to GOP elites and very little sense to Republican voters

.

Can the GOP Leadership bend the activists to their will ??

Immigration Reform is a test of the GOP Elites ability to wrest control from the activists. Republican Grassroots activists, not the ones based in Washington were able to repeatedly nominate ultraconservatives in U. S. Congress races over Establishment favorites.

My Comment :

Some Republicans in Washington realize that Racism and Hatred are not the best way to win presidential elections nowadays.

There is another important economic factor : Rich Capitalists and the Wealthy in America know that Latinos, "Illegal Immigrants" or not, are good for their Businesses and Wealth and that kicking Youngsters out of the country is economic madness and harmful in many senses.
