My own feelings : I was also surprised and strongly depressed that America was going to consider a Mormon for President. Do people ignore that the founder of Mormonism Prophet Joseph Smith was a Con Man ??, a swindler, thief, dedicated to lies, hypocrisy, deception, etc ....
Do people ignore that the History of Mormonism is signed by Polygamy, abuses against Women, rape against little girls of 12 or 13, and even castrations of young males that are competitors to the elders ??
Do people ignore that the History of Mormonism has a lot of violence, massacres and murders ??
Do people ignore the Racism that Mormons have practiced for more than one hundred years and that was taught by Prophet Joseph Smith and Brigham Young that took these cultists to Salt Lake City in Utah ??

The horses are getting spooked in the Romney camp.
His poll numbers are plummeting in state after state, while Newt Gingrich is soaring across the board.
One reflection of the rising tension was an awkward interview with Bret Baier, in which the normally unflappable Mitt Romney got rattled by fair questions. It revealed the irritability of a man accustomed to being in control who's watching his plans fall apart in public.
Mitt’s aura of inevitability is fading because his strategy is failing.
At this time of year, political polls aren’t simply snapshots anymore—they measure deeper trends. Five weeks out from Iowa, political gravity is starting to take hold. Consultants will try to spin the candidate and senior staff, grim silences alternating with false confidence in the face of uncomfortable facts. But the picture ain’t pretty for Team Romney right now, no matter what the spinning man says.
Sure, there have been plenty of other people in the anti-Romney position before, averaging one a month: Bachmann (August), Perry (September), and Cain (October). But in this high-stakes game of musical chairs, Newt is surging when it matters most. Take a look at these polls :

Non-Mormon scholars as well as Mormon ones are aware of a hard-core pornographic drawing in the "Book of Abraham" which is Mormon-approved scripture.
This Book is part of the "Pearl of Great Price" which, along with the "Book of Mormon" and the "Doctrine and Covenants," make up the LDS church's "triple combination" in one volume.
The porn is found in Fig. 7 of Facsimile 2 in the "Book of Abraham" which shows two beings facing each other, which were described by Joseph Smith as representing the "Holy Ghost" and "God sitting upon his throne," the latter clearly showing an aroused male sex organ.
After Smith published this sketch in his newspaper in 1842, which offended Mormon sensibilities, the phallic portion was whited out for more than a century until the "restored" LDS church decided in 1981 to restore what had long been censored!
Equally shocking was the discovery that the "Book of Abraham" had nothing to do with Abraham or his God but was actually based on ancient Egyptian funeral documents depicting occultic obscene practices - and the original sketches showed an erotic phallus on both beings including the one Smith blasphemously claimed was the Holy Ghost!
