Mitt tries to "kill" the 47%, many Minorities, Poor Whites, and also Latinos. I think that Emily is the South and the Past and her Northern boyfriend Homer Barron is the North and the Future.

Like Emily Mitt Romney is a metaphor for the Past and the Failure of its ideals and its Social Darwinism.

"Since I can't have Homer, then I will kill him so that no other woman has him", that is the way that Emily thinks and she is also killing herself forever. She sleeps in the same bed with the rotting corpse.

Emily is like Queen Joanna the Mad of Spain that could NOT separate herself from the rotting corpse of her husband Prince Phillip the Beautiful from Flanders ( Belgium in those times ). They were the parents of the powerful king Charles V that dominated Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Great Parts of Italy and the New World.

Queen Joanna the Mad was the owner of a powerful heart of invincible love and a powerful body of extreme irrepressible sexuality and sexual desire.

Emily had some talents for Art, particularly painting, and some desire for doing good, but the Southern Past, her Family Aristocracy, her importance in the town, and the Ghost of her father that weighed heavily in her mind are her perdition, damnation, doom and fate.

Like Emily Mitt Romney has also a fate of damnation condemned to be a loser and failure in politics. And like Emily he may have some interest, affection or love for the object that he hates, despises and "kills". That is why Mitt says jokingly that he would like to be a Latino to have an easy way in Politics.

Mitt suffers because he can not have the White House, the 47%, the Black Vote, the Latino Vote, and probably the Poor Whites vote will also elude him.

Mitt thinks that "Latinos will cause the ruin of the Great USA", "Since I can not have that 47% and the Latinos in particular then I have to attack them and "Self-Deport" them and "kill" the other 47% with taxes" like Emily Grierson killing Homer Barron.


It is very funny and amusing that the Old South and Old People will vote for Mitt Romney in a "Southern Strategy" or "Geriatric Gerontology Strategy" and the North and Modern Parts of the USA like California will vote for Obama. Also Youngsters and the Modernity will vote for Obama.

Mitt clings to the past like Queen Joanna the Mad to a coffin with a rotten corpse.
